West Cancer Center

A history of clinical excellence coupled with a longstanding commitment to groundbreaking research, West Cancer Center provides multidisciplinary care to more than 35,000 patients each year. This dedication to both compassion and innovation has been the foundation of our mission since the doors of West Clinic opened more than three decades ago. Today, it remains pivotal in realizing our vision to continue to provide our patients access to the most cutting-edge, innovative and comprehensive care possible.

As the Mid-South’s leader in adult cancer care and research, West Clinic combined forces with Methodist Healthcare and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center to form West Cancer Center in 2012. Realizing that together we are better, this innovative partnership unites the foremost leaders in education, research and patient care to advance the field of oncology care and research. Combining the nation’s premier medical oncologists and researchers with the foremost leaders in radiation, gynecologic, surgical and thoracic surgical oncology fosters a collaborative environment where the net result is overall improvement in the patient’s care.

This dedication to advancing cancer care and research is reflected in West Cancer Center’s commitment to offering patients the most comprehensive care possible through a full spectrum of divisions and specialties. Programs and services available at West Cancer Center include:

In addition to unparalleled clinical collaboration and expertise, West Cancer Center’s Department of Research is an integral component to providing each patient with the most individualized care possible. The Research Program combines clinical research in the patient-focused setting with translational methodology in the University of Tennessee Health Science Center laboratories – creating a true bench-to-bedside model to deliver the most innovative and effective care for our patients. In addition to basic and translational science, patients at West Cancer Center also have access to the therapies of tomorrow, today through the cancer center’s robust clinical trial offerings.

To provide patients with the most innovative therapies through life-saving research and comprehensive, compassionate care, philanthropy has never been more critical. Motivated by this imperative, the University of Tennessee/West Institute for Cancer Research was formed in 2014 as the non-profit fundraising arm of West Cancer Center. The UT/West Institute solicits grants from government agencies, foundations and individualized to be utilized to broaden cutting-edge research programs, develop novel cancer treatments and therapeutics, and strengthen patient-focused care in all sectors of our community.
