'Cosmic Rhea'

April 13, 1985

Scores of proud Tennesseans descended on Cape Canaveral yesterday to cheer Dr. Rhea Seddon into orbit.

Dr. Seddon, otherwise known as "Cosmic Rhea," a University of Tennessee Health Science Center grad, became the third woman (first mom) launched into space — aboard the space shuttle Discovery.
