Fire Fight

May 10, 1861

Talk about your hostile workplace.

During the fight among the firemen at Main and Court Streets on Wednesday night, a member of the No. 7 Company, named Day, was shot in the middle finger at the right hand; he was knocked down and stamped upon, his head much cut, and he received a stab in the back. He is getting along favorably and, it is expected, will recover soon.

The engine of the No. 7’s received several injuries in the affray. An ornamental piece of the gallery has been chopped off. The gallery also has dents and bruises caused by pistol shots and brickbats.
